Quincy Delight Jones Jr. (1933-2024) is a prominently respected and revered musician of the 20th and 21st centuries. Known as a master of musical versatility, Jones found remarkable success as a performer, arranger, and composer of a variety of genres which included jazz, pop, hip-hop/rap, and Visual Media. However there is currently no extensive study conducted on Quincy Jones’ film music career produced, to classify essentials and characteristics he frequently used to shape and cement his own respective style of scoring films. This doctoral lecture recital will provide historical information and analyze selected film scores of Quincy Jones in order to craft a clear understanding of his distinctive film compositional techniques, unique additions to the overall soundtrack and significant impact on film music history and scholarship.
