Empowered Legacy Workshop Series: Preserving Military Stories Through Oral History
6 - 20
What is your story? What are your families' stories of military service? An oral history is a powerful way to share the human voice behind the uniform. Recording your memories, or those of a loved one, allows for a personal recount of experiences, emotions, and lessons that written words alone cannot fully capture. Participants will explore oral history, focusing on capturing, preserving, and sharing the rich narratives of our military Veterans. This series will guide participants through the essential aspects of collecting oral histories, ensuring that participants and the Veterans they interview feel confident and empowered to share their stories through conversational narratives.
Attendees will learn how to prepare for conversations and preserve valuable narratives securely. Whether you're a Veteran, Servicemember, or family member looking to document personal experiences honoring a loved one’s legacy, this series offers practical skills and insights to get you started. This workshop is taught by Tina Claflin, retired Coast Guard Veteran, owner of Halcyon Reflections LLC, and story organizer.
This workshop series is open and FREE to Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers ages 18 and older. Space is limited.
