Reflections in Black and White is a collection of drawings by Kevin Jones who creates large-scale, highly detailed work based on reinterpretations of masterworks in the classical canon through the lenses of science fiction, comic books, and anime. Kevin’s work searches for new truths in the re-examination of classic work. His work uses the concept of Afro-Futurism as a way of engaging with the topic of Black erasure.
About the Artist:
Kevin Jones was born in Washington D.C., raised in the metropolitan area, and is the oldest of four. A fan of comic books and animation from a young age, Kevin started drawing and creating early in life and attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where he studied illustration. After spending time working outside the art field and only creating in his free time, Kevin returned to school—first attending Northern Virginia Community College for graphic design, then completing his BFA in George Mason University’s School of Art.
