Joined by U.S.-raised French-Haitian composer and vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, the Grammy Award-winning Silkroad Ensemble returns to the Center for the Arts for the fifth consecutive season for this exciting world-premiere program that promises to be rich, surprising, and full of musical discovery. With a deep passion for storytelling through music ranging from blues and folk to baroque and vaudeville, Salvant is “one of the most daring and resourceful vocalists in jazz—or any other genre, for that matter” (Uncut). Expect a powerful fusion of improvisation, tradition, and unexpected musical turns as Salvant joins the Ensemble to explore connections across cultures and histories.
